In Uganda, grain is an important commodity for food security and generates income. Yet smallholder farmers often have limited storage and lack access to processing facilities or markets.
Landmark Millers builds strong value chains for maize, sorghum and cassava by enhancing market access for farmers, improving post-harvest handling of the produce and improving the delivery of services. The social business aggregates produce from farmers through its network agents and handles the bulk-processing and -marketing. In addition, Landmark Millers creates job opportunities, especially for youth and women involved in the grain value chains.
To date, Landmark Millers has supported over 8,000 farmers by providing seeds and purchasing of produce. This results in higher and stable incomes for farmers and their families.
